Where the goal is to strive for personal excellence
This course emphasizes participation in a variety of highly challenging physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living and personal physical fitness.Students learn movement skills, fitness training methods and principles, varied methods of improving and maintaining personal fitness and physical competence, safety and injury prevention.
Students will set challenging personal fitness goals, develop communication and social skills and focus on achievement based personal fitness outcomes. The goal of this course is to improve student's confidence & competence in fitness training. This course is an excellent opportunity for students to learn and apply their knowledge towards living a healthy active lifestyle.

Essential Learning Outcomes
Student success will be based on their ability to:
• participate daily in vigorous physical challenges, through a wide range of prescribed range of activities; (e.g., individual, small-
and large-group,
indoor and outdoor activities)
• learn how to set and apply appropriate personal fitness goals, using the S.M.A.R.T. principle (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Realistic, Timely);
• design and participate in personal health-related fitness improvement programs;
• improve personal fitness levels by participating in sustained, vigorous fitness activities increasing in duration and intensity fitness (e.g., monitor heart recovery rates during vigorous physical activities and analyze the resulting training impact);
• explain the numerous training principles that influence physical fitness, related to specified personal fitness goals;
• evaluate personal factors directly relating to one’s personal physical fitness;
• continually refine daily personal health-related physical fitness programs
• adopt strategies to promote lifelong participation in a variety of personal fitness options
• understand and make efficient use of a wide variety of physical fitness equipment, programs, and approaches;
• demonstrates a clear understanding of benefits of appropriate nutritional choices for peak physical performance and long-term
healthy living
• identify and participate in community-based fitness opportunities (5, 13, 21 km races, self defence classes, yoga classes,
snowshoeing.)
• support and respect other student’s goals and level of achievement
